Previously a partner at Piper Alderman, Grant Feary joined
Iles Selley Lawyers in 2002.
A graduate, with Honours, from the University of Adelaide
Law School, Grant commenced practice in 1985. Apart from a
period working in London with Freshfields on the Johnson Matthey
litigation, Grant worked in the commercial litigation sections
of Mollison Litchfield and, later, its successor, Corrs Chambers
Westgarth, before joining Piper Alderman in 1991.
Grant’s experience ranges over a broad cross-section
of commercial litigious matters. Whilst at Mollison Litchfield
and Corrs Chambers Westgarth, he acted in a number of high
profile litigious matters, including the Southern Resources
case, the Crusader v Santos litigation and the Duke Group
v Arthur Young matter. At Piper Alderman, he worked on the
Royal Commission and Auditor-General’s enquiry into
the State Bank of South Australia, the IOOF v Auspine matters
and the Coonawarra wine region boundary dispute.
Since joining Iles Selley Lawyers, he has worked on the Bond
Corporation/Arthur Andersen litigation, has assumed responsibility
for and assisted in a range of commercial litigious matters
and has continued to act as the local agent for a number of
interstate firms in significant litigation. Most recently,
he acted as the custodian for confidential documents in the
latest Santos Gas Price Arbitration, assisting the arbitrators,
Sir Daryl Dawson and David Jackson QC.
In October 2007, Grant became the 74th President of the Law
Society of South Australia.
