firm profile

Iles Selley Lawyers is a dedicated commercial litigation and private client practice specialising in often difficult cases requiring close interaction with clients, forensic experts and counsel to achieve their clients’ objectives.

Formed in February 2001 by Nicholas Iles and Matthew Selley, then partners in Piper Alderman’s Adelaide office, Iles Selley Lawyers has quickly established a reputation for excellence in the timely, skilled and efficient conduct of often complex litigation, in both commercial disputes and criminal matters.

The firm adopts a “hands on” approach to litigation, working closely with counsel and experts on all aspects of case preparation. The firm prides itself on the quality of its people and the legal services it provides. All matters are conducted or overseen by experienced Partners.

Much of the success of the firm has been due to referrals from within the legal profession itself - both solicitors and barristers. The partners of Iles Selley Lawyers are regularly called upon to act for, or at the invitation of, other firms and for individual members of both branches of the legal profession. They are often retained by other leading professionals, particularly from the medical and accounting professions.

In addition to a wide range of general commercial litigious matters, the firm provides specialist legal services in general contractual, company and partnership disputes, professional indemnity, insurance, insolvency and defamation. A significant part of the practice is acting for medical practitioners in disciplinary or malpractice matters. The Partners have also acted in public law matters, including major constitutional litigation in the High Court of Australia.

In recent years, Iles Selley Lawyers has developed a substantial practice in the criminal Courts acting for privately funded clients.

The firm practices from modern offices in Carrington Street, in the heart of Adelaide’s legal precinct, close to all of the major courts and the leading sets of Barrister’s Chambers.
